ANNOUNCEMENTS/NEWS
Madison Update!
Good news from today’s County Board meeting! In spite of Board Member Paul Ferguson voting against us for a second time, the design of the new Madison Community Canine Area (CCA) was approved by the other four County Board Members.
Be sure to drop a thank you e-mail to Chairman Barbara Favola, Vice-Chairman Jay Fisette, and Members Chris Zimmerman and Walter Tejada who thankfully recognized that while the plan may not be perfect, it meets the real needs of the stakeholders. They also recognized that community facilities and public streets exist to serve the needs of all Arlingtonians, not just those who live near them.
Barbara Favola - Chairman bfavola@arlingtonva.us
Jay Fisette - Vice-Chairman jfisette@arlingtonva.us
J. Walter Tejada - Member wtejada@arlingtonva.us
Christopher Zimmerman - Member czimmerman@arlingtonva.us
Volunteer Task Force Chairman Peter Fallon and his merry band of volunteer task force members did an outstanding job of representing the needs of all stakeholders in this process. They reflect grace under pressure and the spirit of fairness through and through.
Thanks go to all those folks who kindly sent e-mails of support to the Arlington County Board including today’s speakers and letter writers. And to the Glencarlyn folks who sent e-mails in support of the Madison effort…thank you, thank you, thank you!
Not to mention Mary at Dogma and Lucy at akaSpot. Our amazing friends! We couldn’t have done it without you!!!
As one of our eloquent speakers said today, while nobody got everything they wanted, the County did not let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
