At the request of Noah's Wish and Best Friends Animal Society, Arlington-based Capital Animal Care will be sending their mobile veterinary clinic to Slidell, Louisiana to provide veterinary care to the animal victims of Hurricane Katrina. The 26 foot state-of- the-art mobile clinic features an on-board generator, hot and cold running water, heat and air conditioning, a refrigerator, autoclave, blood analyzer, and a surgical suite with two fully equipped operating tables with independent anesthesia. Along with the unit, Capital Animal Care is sending a team of two veterinarians, two technicians, and two assistants.
From our latest discussion with those on the scene, we will be handling emergency cases and surgeries related to traumatic injury and illness.

Hurricane Katrina
Please support animal rescue efforts. The list below has most of the major organizations currently active in this emergency. Not included are the many local animal rescue groups all over the country who have initiated their own fund raising efforts. I did include the LSU Vet School, the SPCA of Houston and the Animal Rescue Foundation of Layfayette since they have already gotten many fortunate hurricane survivors.
