Pet Licenses
Arlington County, Virginia Department of the Treasurer

If your dog is more than four months old, it must be vaccinated against rabies and be licensed with the county. This is required by Virginia Law and the Code of Arlington County. Service dogs are not required to obtain an Arlington County pet license. The Animal Welfare League of Arlington sponsors a rabies clinic at the shelter, 2650 S. Arlington Mill Drive. Clinic dates scheduled for calendar year 2004 are: January 22 March 25, April 22, May 27, July 22, September 23, October 28 and December 2. Clinics are open from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The vaccination is given at $7.00 per animal. License applications may be obtained at the shelter, all Arlington veterinarians, or by calling the Treasurer's Office at (703) 228-3080. You may print and complete a license application by clicking here. When you submit the license application, please enclose a copy of a valid rabies certificate and a check covering the cost of a dog tag. The Treasurer's Office will mail the tag to you. If you wish to pay the license fee by credit card please call (703) 228-3080.
